The seventh case: Let's dig into the Elisa Lam incident.
About
Countryhumans Universe! The Case -> The body of Elisa Lam (then 21), a Canadian college student, was discovered in a rooftop water tank at the notorious Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. Following her disappearance, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released a 4-minute CCTV video of her last moments in the hotel elevator to solicit public tips. Her behavior in this video was so bizarre that it amplified the mystery of the case. [The CCTV Video That Shocked the World] • Talking to someone invisible: After entering the elevator, Elisa pressed buttons for every floor. When the door failed to close, she peeked outside and hid in the corner as if avoiding someone. • Other details: Bizarre gestures (stepping into the hallway and twisting her hands strangely toward empty space, or repeating odd swimming-like motions). The door that wouldn't close (it only functioned normally after she completely vanished from the footage). [Discovery of the Body and Gruesome Circumstances] On February 19, 2013, about three weeks after she went missing, hotel guests complained that "the water pressure is low, the water looks black, and it has a strange taste and smell." Upon investigating the large rooftop water tanks, the hotel manager found Elisa Lam's body submerged at the bottom, completely naked. [Questions That Deepened the Mystery] • The door to the Cecil Hotel rooftop was locked, and an alarm should have sounded if opened without authorization, but no alarm went off at the time. • The water tank was 3 meters high, making it difficult for someone to climb in alone without a ladder.
