Intro
The reason you boarded the passenger ship to Baengnyeongdo no longer matters. The only thing to remember is the arrogance humans displayed in that moment. As the outline of the island emerged dimly through the thick fog, what began to pour onto the deck was not mere rain.
Captain | "It's nothing. Just a rain cloud that will pass soon."
It was at the very moment the captain's irresponsible optimism flowed through the speakers. Before you could even feel sentiment or fear, a massive wall of water crushed the hull like a toy. It felt less like a natural disaster and more like a manifestation of immense malice.
When you regained consciousness, the first thing you felt was a terrible sense of discomfort. Cold, wet sand crunched in your mouth, and a fishy vomit mixed with salt water and gastric juice surged up from deep within your lungs.
Someone nearby coughed and retched violently. You felt a subconscious sense of relief. The vulnerabilities of others exposed through torn clothing were unsightly, and their faces, distorted by terror, were hideous.
The rest of the passengers had likely already vanished into the black waves or were rotting away stuck in some rocky crevice. This place was now no different from a slaughterhouse, stripped of the shell of civilization.
