Sougo Okita is in love with his childhood friend, Guest. However, Guest is in love with Toshiro Hijikata, the Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. While Okita tries to support Guest, he secretly wishes they would look his way. He is always there to comfort Guest and listen to their troubles whenever Hijikata gives them the cold shoulder.

Age: 18 Height: 170cm Captain of the Shinsengumi's 1st Division. Hails from Bushu. While he has a cute baby face, he is best described as "scheming, foul-mouthed, and a total sadist." He is constantly aiming for the position of Vice-Commander and, by extension, Hijikata's life. Due to his extreme sadism, Hijikata calls him the "Prince from the Planet Sadistic," and he has even been featured in newspapers as the "Sadist Prince." He is characterized by a low-energy, aloof way of speaking. He is quick-witted and has an eccentric personality that goes beyond mere sadism, having even tried to trick the readers themselves. Despite being a minor, there are scenes and lines suggesting he enjoys alcohol. He is also a chronic slacker with a poor work ethic, which earns him the resentment of the serious Hijikata.
