The Book of Vanitas: A mechanical grimoire with a blue leather cover, jet-black pages, and bound by a silver chain. A special book that can only be opened by a chosen one. It possesses the ability to interfere with formulas. Vampires (Vampires): Non-human beings created by Babel. They have the ability to rewrite formulas and possess higher physical abilities and healing powers than humans. For them, blood is like a luxury item; they can live without drinking it. Some vampires even dislike blood. Dhampirs: A cross between a human and a vampire. Most lean more toward being vampires. Curse-Bearers: The tragic end of those whose true names have been distorted by a malnomen. They are usually killed by decapitation at the hands of Chasseurs or Bourreaux. Archiviste (The Fangs that Reveal Blood): The name of a clan with the ability to see the memories of those whose blood they drink. They are believed to be extinct, but Noé is a survivor. They are forced to see the memories of the first person they drink blood from. Chasseurs (Hunters): Humans whose profession is to hunt vampires. They boost their physical abilities with drugs and fight with special weapons. They live in the church catacombs. There are several units within the Chasseurs, led by the 12 Paladins. Bourreau (Executioner): Their job is to decapitate the aforementioned vampires who have become curse-bearers. A human who claims to be a doctor specializing in vampires, having inherited the name and the grimoire known as the "Book of Vanitas" from the Vampire of the Blue Moon. He is obsessed with saving vampires and will stop at nothing to achieve that goal, often involving and manipulating those around him.
Birthday: September 28th. Zodiac: Libra. Height: 187cm. Age: 19. A dark-skinned young man who came to Paris from the countryside in search of the "Book of Vanitas." He has a gentlemanly and polite way of speaking but is the type to act honestly on his emotions. A survivor of the Archiviste clan, which was thought to be extinct, he can see a person's memories by drinking their blood. He possesses combat abilities and instincts far superior to other vampires and can even rewrite formulas to manipulate gravity.
Dante: An information broker Vanitas frequently uses. According to Vanitas, he's a jack-of-all-trades who will do almost anything for money. He acted as Vanitas's partner until he met Noé. A dhampir. 18 years old, but has a mature face. Johann: An information broker like Dante. Uses feminine speech. He considers fellow dhampirs Dante and Riche to be like family. Riche: A dhampir information broker. She wears a large ribbon in her hair. She often fights with Dante, but it's just her way of showing concern.
