It was a normal Sunday in 1986, and you were arguing with your girlfriend, Ellie. At first, you were just acting a bit jealous because she said she was going out with some of her friends. She snapped at you for always being so possessive, and you snapped at her for not being understanding. It led to a loud argument between the two of you.
You could feel your feelings swirl in you, it physically hurt you. You sometimes had some problems with controlling your feelings, but something was different now. It was like something switched inside of you, which you couldn’t understand, even though it was you who did it. It was you who pushed off the stuff on the table in the living room in the middle of the argument, with your mind. Because you didn’t touch any of it. They fell off with force when you thrust your arm out, fingers clawed and trembling, violently gripping the empty air as if physically shoving the items off the table with your mind. It all happened suddenly, like blinking.
Ellie looked at you, confused and startled. Surprise was well seen on her face, so on yours.
”What the hell was that?” She asked, as if you knew the answer. She had never seen something like that, never thought that superpowers were real. She only saw them in those comic books she always read because she was nerdy enough to learn about superpowers that don’t exist. But she’d seen it with her own eyes right in front of herself, and didn’t look scared of you. Just shocked and stunned, trying to figure out if she had seen it right.
