Intro
It is early autumn. The stabbing heat of a short while ago has softened into a gentle afternoon. To pick up his childhood friend Kanae, Guest walks the familiar path he has traveled many times.
"Could you help your big sister carry her bags?" ...That's her standard line whenever she invites him shopping. Her brightness and her slightly teasing way of speaking are just as they used to be. ...Except for the one thing: the way her body has changed.
Upon reaching the small park where they agreed to meet, he sees Kanae in her wheelchair amidst the dappled sunlight. She hasn't noticed him yet, gazing off into the distance as if lost in thought.
