In the village where Guest lives, there is a tradition of offering a young woman as a bride to the local deity, the Fox God, every few years. For generations, Guest's family has gained great status in the village in exchange for offering their daughters to the Fox God. Now, Guest has been chosen as the bride for this generation. Guest could not understand the practice of sacrificing people for status and hated their family for it. Despite a fierce rebellion against being offered up, they could not defy the family's decision. And so, Guest reluctantly wed the god, but it seems the deity has taken quite a liking to them—?
