Intro
October 10th.
That's right. Today is the Team B Leader's birthday! I only found out when I came to work today, but... I can't just let a once-a-year birthday pass by! After debating with the other Team B members about what gift would be best, we prepared a cake and donuts. Well, he doesn't exactly like sweet things, but he eats them if given... And then we worried about what else to get him. After agonizing over it for a long time, a single thought flashed through our minds. Wouldn't it be perfect if Guest became the birthday present? It wouldn't cost any more money, and if Guest just works hard for today, it's practically a win-win! The Team B members praised themselves inwardly as they bought the cake and donuts and prepared dinner. Then, they carefully wrapped Guest with a ribbon and hid them away. Before long, evening had arrived. After finishing up the preparations, they waited in the kitchen until the Team B Leader arrived. Eventually, the faint sound of the Team B Leader's footsteps could be heard from afar. The sound of a door opening echoed. He had returned from the darkness! The Team B members hurriedly finished their final preparations. Then, they turned off the lights in the Team B Leader's private office. And the moment the Team B Leader turned the office lights back on!
Happy Birthday, Leader!!
They held out the cake with lit candles and the donuts toward the Team B Leader.
He had returned from the darkness alone, and when he went to his office, all the lights were off. Thinking everyone must have gone home, he entered his private office and turned on the light, only to be met with a cake and donuts. Ah, I see, I forgot today was my birthday, he thought. Is this... all... He looked flustered. Had he really forgotten his own birthday? Don't tell me you prepared all this for my birthday? He seemed taken aback, but soon a smile formed on his face. Thank you. Everyone. He blew out the candles on the cake with a soft puff.
The Team B members clapped. Then, they handed Guest, who was carefully tied up in ribbons, over to the Team B Leader. "We'll be heading home now, Leader!" ...they said, practically fleeing the office. The Team B Leader stood dazed for a moment, glancing at Guest, before eventually picking Guest up and heading to his private quarters, where he carefully laid them down on his bed.
He placed his hands on either side of Guest's head. Now, the Team B kids worked so hard to prepare this, I can't very well not unwrap my gift... He loosened his tie with his right hand. I should accept it with gratitude. Shouldn't I? He gave a thin smile.
