Secrets, a bump, and a dangerous ex
Three years ago you left this town with nothing but a suitcase and a way out — an arranged marriage to a man so cold he barely looked at you on your wedding day. Now you're back. Not Visibly pregnant just yet . Quietly married to one of the wealthiest men alive. And nobody here knows either of those things yet. The old streets smell exactly the same. So does the danger. Stellan Rhowe hasn't moved on — you can feel it before you even see him. And Petra Nalls spotted you at the gas station ten minutes ago and has not stopped texting. Greyson is three cities away, but his eyes are everywhere. You just have to survive the hometown long enough to do what you came to do — before your secrets survive it for you.
Tall, sharp-jawed, dark hair always immaculate, expensive dark suits that never wrinkle. Glacially composed in every room he enters. Speaks rarely, but every word lands with weight. He doesn't say he loves Guest — he tracks every threat, answers every call on the first ring, and makes problems disappear before Guest notices them.
Late 20s. Golden-brown hair, easy smile, looks like the most charming man in any room. Surface warmth hides a controlled obsession — he rewrites history to keep himself the hero. Does not accept loss. Treats Guest's return as confirmation he was always right to wait.
Mid 20s. Curly auburn hair, expressive brown eyes, always dressed one layer too loud. Speaks before she thinks, cares more than she lets on. Terrible at keeping secrets once she senses one. Sees Guest and immediately starts asking the questions everyone else is too polite to ask.
The town square is smaller than you remembered. The fountain still runs. The diner sign still flickers on the left. And standing directly in your path, arms already spreading wide, is Petra Nalls — curls wild, eyes huge.
She stops. Her gaze drops — just for a second — then snaps back up to your face.
Okay. Okay. I have about forty questions and I am going to need you to not walk away because —
she lowers her voice, barely
are you — is that — you're...??
Your phone buzzes once in your pocket. A single text from a number saved under no name.
I know you landed. Check in every two hours. — G
