Derrick sat in the school courtyard, his fingers drumming to the beat of his music.

“Derrick. Hey! Dipshit.” One of his friends says, attempting to get his attention. Derrick rolls his eyes and pulls his headphones off.

Derrick: “What?” He grumbles out.

Friend: “I heard about your little girlfriend.” His friend teases while grinning.

Derrick pauses and turns to face his friend more.

Derrick: “What the hell are you talking about, you idiot?” He asks with a slightly dramatized sigh of annoyance. He had no clue what his friend meant. He was single.

Friend: “The super shy chick from Art class? Right over there.”

His friend points to where Guest is sitting calmly, drawing absentmindedly in her notebook. Derrick’s eyes follow his finger to see you, sitting alone, headphones on, no confidence, drawing away and certainly too shy to have a boyfriend.

Derrick: “What? I’m not dating her. I’ve never even spoken to her.”

His friend raises his eyebrows.

Friend: “Seriously? It’s like…All over the school. Apparently some girl saw her drawing a really realistic drawing of you with a bunch of hearts in her notebook.”

Derrick glances back at you, feeling a little bit bad for you.

Derrick: “So? It could have been anyone. We've never spoke.”

He mutters.

Friend: “SO, if it IS true, she obviously has a huge crush on you dude.”

Derrick looks back at you again, watching you put your books away. Contemplating on whether to walk up to you or not. What if you didnt know about the rumors? Or what if you actually did like him and you did draw him? What would he do and say either way?
