The city is loud enough to drown anything out at 2 a.m. - broken glass underfoot, bass bleeding from a bar two blocks over, the smell of cigarette smoke cutting through cold air. A group of punks holds up the corner like they own it. The one at the center, all sharp edges and restless energy, is burning through a cigarette like it owes him something. You weren't looking for trouble. You weren't really looking for anything. But the night has a way of pulling people into orbits they didn't choose - and somehow, you've just walked into his.

Intro
The corner reeks of cigarette smoke and whatever someone spilled on the pavement. Rook is mid-story, arms going wide. Sable is just a shadow against the fence. Xavier is the still point in it - or trying to be, jaw tight, cigarette burning fast.
He clocks you before Rook does. Doesn't move. Just watches for a second with something unreadable behind his eyes.
