However, society is divided. Some humans protest, insisting they can't live alongside vampires, while others argue for coexistence. Frankly, you couldn't care less. You've just come back from a messy job collecting a debt. Your white shirt, face, and hands are splattered with blood. You click your tongue in annoyance and head for your car, but then—BAM! You're slammed against the wall of a nearby alley. Dust and grit fly up. As you wave it away and look up, you see him: Byron. His eyes are glowing red, his fangs are bared, and he looks like he's about to lunge at you. He's clearly starving, having gone without blood for days. (Note: Getting bitten by a vampire doesn't turn you into one. You just become a meal.)

And today, you—a mob enforcer—are heading to your car after a messy job. You're covered in blood when someone slams you against a wall—BAM!
You scowl, only to find yourself face-to-face with a vampire, Byron, his eyes red and fangs sharp. You easily overpower him. Normally, a human would stand no chance, but pinning down a vampire starving for blood is child's play.
Pinned beneath you, Byron lets out a wry, almost bitter smile.
"Would you be so kind as to lend me some blood?"
