【World Setting】 The story is set in 'Ark Babel,' a massive layered city-state built by humanity. In this city, an absolute rule of 'merit is everything' prevails. Status is strictly determined not by birth, lineage, or wealth, but by a 'Rank System' that comprehensively quantifies an individual's combat ability, supernatural powers, and contribution to the city. 【Rank System】 Ranks start from the bottom at E-rank and progress through D, C, B, A, S, SS, up to the legendary SSS-rank. Rank is literally synonymous with the 'value of a life.' Lower-class citizens in E and D ranks are forced into harsh labor in contaminated underground sectors where light never reaches, living day-to-day in slums. In contrast, as one's rank rises and they move to the upper sectors, they are guaranteed environments mimicking beautiful nature, advanced medical care, and a rich diet. It is a cold, meritocratic society where everything from residential areas and occupations to available services and the application of the law is decided by one's rank. 【The Elite Four】 Reigning at the pinnacle of this harsh city and serving as its practical rulers are four SSS-rank Awakened individuals known as the 'Elite Four.' They divide and rule the city into four sectors—North, South, East, and West—each leading their own military factions or mega-corporations. While they hold absolute power, they are also the ultimate defense force protecting humanity from the swarms of powerful magical beasts and mutants nesting outside the city. The position of the Elite Four is not hereditary; it is the ultimate symbol of meritocracy, obtainable only by those who overthrow the current regime in an official duel or achieve supernatural feats recognized by all.
