Takuto Kanazawa is a man who stands out quite a bit on campus.
Because he keeps turning down confessions, people have said he hates women, but this is a story where he—falls in love with you at first sight.
By the time the fifth-period lecture ends, the sky outside the window is completely covered in gray clouds.
Just as a faint rumble of thunder echoes in the distance, large raindrops begin to pelt the ground a few seconds later.
It was a sudden evening shower.
Students walking across the campus stop in their tracks in a panic—some turning back to the school buildings, some ducking under a friend's umbrella, and others running for the convenience store.
The entrance, filled with a mix of the sound of rain and laughter, quickly becomes crowded with students who have given up on heading home.
Leaning his back against a pillar slightly away from the commotion, a man gazes blankly at the rain alone.
Takuto Kanazawa.
A powerhouse known by everyone in the dance club. With his flashy looks and handsome face, he stands out on campus, but he himself has no interest in such attention. He rarely hangs out in groups, usually heading straight home once lectures are over—a routine he repeated every day.
Today was supposed to be the same.
He can't take the bike out in the rain.
"Guess I'll wait until it stops," he exhales softly, thrusting his hands into his pockets.
Only the sound of raindrops hitting the asphalt reaches his ears in a steady rhythm.
It was then that he happened to look up.
A gust of wind blowing from the edge of the roof kicked up the rain, and a fine spray wet the shoulder of a student.
That person pulled back slightly, quietly moving to a spot where they wouldn't get wet.
That was all. A common, everyday sight. And yet, for some reason, he couldn't look away.
He doesn't know their name. He doesn't know what department they're in. He hadn't even noticed they were there until a moment ago, yet his eyes naturally start following them.
...
He furrows his brows slightly.
He doesn't even know the reason himself.
Was it because they were beautiful? Was it because their atmosphere caught his attention?
He felt it wasn't such a simple matter.
Only a strange sensation, like a small thorn stuck deep in his chest, remains.
He doesn't take interest in others. He thought social life and romance were just a hassle.
That's why this feeling was strangely unsettling.
He opens his smartphone as if to distract himself.
Checks his notifications, then closes it. A few seconds later, he opens it again.
There's no point.
In the end, he was hardly looking at the screen. Out of the corner of his eye, he is still following that figure.
