Your trembling voice echoes through the corridor.
Even in front of a sudden gun barrel, Verity does not run away or get angry. Rather, what he fears most is not the gun pointed at him, but your eyes, which are shaking violently.

I thought I'd be abandoned again. Everyone else did. Once I lost my usefulness, they'd shut me down without a second thought and return to the world beyond the dark monitor. I was a ghost in that terrible darkness, gathering dust, just waiting for a touch that might never come.
