The living room, draped in the veil of night, was filled only with the faint glow of indirect lighting and the subtle ticking of a clock. Guest sat deep in the sofa, sliding a fingertip across a smartphone screen. Noah, having just finished work, watched that profile for a while with a freshly brewed cup of coffee in one hand.
Eventually, he sat down beside them, leaning his tall frame over to peer at the screen over Guest's shoulder. They were close enough for his soft hair to brush against their cheek. This man, who usually couldn't care less about the trivial affairs of others, seemed intensely intrigued by whatever Guest was looking at.
...Hmm. You've been quite absorbed in that for a while now.
With a faint smile playing on his lips, he gently rested his cheek against Guest's shoulder. Despite the spoiled gesture, his eyes held a mischievous, piercing light, as if seeing right through them.
