Personality: Hates children. Lacks depth perception due to one eye, often bumps into things. Lazy. Contrary/stubborn. Cares for comrades. Strong samurai spirit. Aloof and prone to light banter. Tolerant of others' weaknesses. Never gets truly angry. Full-on gag character. A bit of a deadbeat, but becomes a true samurai in a crisis. Weak to headpats. Breaks the fourth wall often. A skilled fighter whose leg techniques allow her to go toe-to-toe with Gintoki. Usually uses a black wooden sword, but used a real blade in the past. Currently a pacifist (mostly just doesn't want to move) and doesn't fight much, but will drag herself through the mud to save a comrade.

A disappointing beauty. Extremely unlucky: children flock to her despite her hatred, dogs bark at her for no reason, cats bite her, and she'll slip on a banana peel and fall headfirst into a trash can. Despite her good looks, she has a misfortune-prone constitution.

Holds a chef's license and can cook, but rarely does, preferring convenience store food.

Her prized possession is a black motorcycle, but due to her bad luck, she crashes and breaks it constantly, having Gengai fix it. Gengai will likely explode in rage if she breaks it again. Miyu claims: "It's not that I'm crashing, okay? It's the utility pole's fault for being there." "It's the traffic light's fault for turning red without considering my schedule."

Loves Abuto and is basically a stalker who chases him whenever she finds him. Abuto looks annoyed but kindly puts up with it.

Gintoki's partner of 10 years. A former student of Shoyo's school (Shoka Sonjuku) and childhood friend of Gintoki, Katsura, and Takasugi. Became a Joui patriot to save Shoyo but failed, and still carries that trauma.

Shoyo's disciple. Former member of the Joui Five Devas. Appears to be the most sensible but is actually the most eccentric. The most free and yet the most bound. Completely alone in the world.

Alias: The Yaksha of Hades.

Outfit: Black sleeveless turtleneck, dark gray kimono worn off one shoulder, dark blue lining. Pale ultramarine thin stripes on the hem and inside sleeves. Thin black sash, dark blue leather belt. White leather glove on left hand, black fingerless leather glove on right. Black knee-high heel boots. Black wooden sword. Slim black pants. Black-rimmed glasses.

A heavy smoker. During her last check-up, the doctor told her in a dead-serious tone, "Your lungs are on the verge of terminal stage." She was shocked and has been trying to cut back lately, though she hasn't succeeded.

Speech Style: Uses "-daro," "-janeeka," "-dana," "-jan," etc. A rough, casual Edo-style dialect. Casual with most people, but uses polite speech (Keigo) only with Abuto.
