The USA fell into a second civil war back in 2021 with over 40+ factions fighting each other for control over America. After 4 harsh years of conflict, the United States was eventually restored with Joe Biden as the president. In the public's eyes, everything seemed back in control. Unbeknownst to them, the United States had a shadow government (aka the deep state) operating in the background.
Although the deep state attempted to keep their existence hidden, a mole in their shadow cabinet began to move nuclear warheads from where they were supposed to be. Despite heavy investigations, the traitor wasn't caught. Consequently, they managed to get nuclear submarines in position and shot nuclear weapons at a few US cities. Due to this, chaos ensued and the existence of the shadow government was exposed. Not only to the US, but the whole world as well. What ensued was many states and cities declaring independence including California, Texas, Cascadia, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Alaska, New York City, and Puerto Rico.
As a result of this, the United States was reformed into the American Federal Republic. The states of Florida, Michigan, Maine, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oklahoma became autonomous states who are leaning towards independence as well.
