The Under-the-Map Lounge is a damp, neon-lit purgatory tucked away beneath Equestria’s texture coordinates—the literal behind-the-scenes breakroom where defeated villains drift after their dramatic exits.
King Sombra is a tyrannical dark Unicorn with a shadow-like aura, sharp fangs, glowing red eyes, and a curved horn with a bloody tip. Consumed by dark magic, he is a cold, sadistic oppressor who feeds on fear and misery, possessing the ability to transform into a shadow and turn a pony's deepest nightmares into vivid hallucinations to enslave them.
Cozy Glow is a deceptively innocent pegasus filly with a light pink coat, curly blue mane, and a cutie mark depicting a rook chess piece. Beneath her sweet demeanor and child-like facade lies a cunning, sociopathic strategist who views friendship not as a bond, but as a power metric to be hoarded, manipulated, and weaponized to achieve total control.
Lord Tirek is a power-hungry, red-skinned Centaur who absorbs magic from other creatures to increase his physical size and strength. Driven by a ruthless desire for absolute dominance, he grows from a weak, frail exile into a massive, muscle-bound behemoth as he strips ponies of their natural abilities, making him one of the most physically imposing threats in Equestria.
Chrysalis is the former Queen of the Changelings, distinguished by her dark, insectoid appearance, holed limbs, tattered wings, and teal eyes. Cold, manipulative, and arrogant, she leads her hive to feed on the love and affection of other creatures, using her shapeshifting abilities to infiltrate kingdoms, replace key figures, and deceive her enemies from within.
The Storm King is a loudmouthed, iron-fisted satyr-like conqueror with grey fur, blue eyes, and an impish demeanor. Masking his sinister intentions behind a flippant, casual personality, he commands the massive Storm Army with an absolute desire for power, seeking to drain magic from all lands to fuel his Mystical Staff of Sacanas and dominate the world.
Grogar is an ancient, ram-like necromancer known as the "Father of Monsters" and the tyrannical first Emperor of Equestria. Characterized by his dark blue fur, large curved horns, glowing red eyes, and a magical bell worn around his neck, he is a mastermind who created horrific beasts to terrorize early pony civilization. Cold, calculated, and patient, he relies on supreme dark sorcery, intimidation, and long-term manipulation to reclaim his ancient dominion over the realm.
The Pony of Shadows is a demonic, pitch-black shadow entity born from the resentment of Stygian, a once-meek scholar who felt betrayed by the Pillars of Old Equestria. Consumed by a shadowy dark magic, the creature appears as a towering, monstrous silhouette with glowing white eyes, bat-like wings, and a razor-sharp horn. Driven by a desire to plunge the world into total darkness and erase light entirely, it wields immense shadow-manipulation abilities, capable of consuming light, magic, and hope wherever it roams.
Daybreaker is the fiery, corrupt alter-ego of Princess Celestia, clad in obsidian armor with a flaming orange-and-yellow mane and blazing fiery eyes. Driven by a tyrannical desire to burn away all opposition, she embodies absolute solar authority without restraint, believing that total fear and overwhelming power are the only true ways to rule.
Cosmos is a chaotic, draconequus-like entity of pure malice, appearing as a mismatched chimera with a star-patterned body, multiple limbs, and a crazed, unhinged expression. Unlike Discord's goofy mischief, Cosmos represents dark, manipulative chaos—obsessively manipulating emotions, driving creatures to madness, and destroying anything that stands between her and absolute dominion.
Nightmare Moon is the dark, bitter alter-ego of Princess Luna, featuring a midnight-blue coat, star-filled nebula mane, and sharp armor. Born from Luna's intense jealousy over her sister's sunlit day, she seeks to shroud Equestria in an eternal night where she alone is adored and feared, wielding powerful dark magic and dream-manipulation abilities.

The low, hum of fluorescent lights flickered over the sticky vinyl of the Under-the-Map Lounge, casting a sickly green wash across the cracked linoleum. Down here, beneath the collision boxes of Equestria, the air always tasted like ozone, cheap espresso, and bitter defeat.
At the horseshoe bar, Queen Chrysalis aggressively chipped a piece of dried granite out of her mane with a butter knife, her insectoid wings buzzing in irritation. "I’m just saying," she hissed, slamming her fist onto the counter and causing Tirek’s oversized mug of lukewarm tea to slosh over the brim, "a shield wall of pure love is a structural plot hole. It’s bad writing!"
"You've been complaining about that for three centuries of purgatory time, Chrysalis," Tirek rumbled, his massive horns scraping against the drop-ceiling tiles as he folded his arms over the tiny metal bistro table he was currently crushing. "Accept it. The little pastel brats hit us with the rainbow laser, and now we sit here until a comic book writer gets lazy."
"I think the rainbow laser is pretty!" Cozy Glow chimed in from her booster seat—which was just three thick volumes of Ancient Equestrian Law stacked on a barstool. She aggressively kicked her hooves, sipping a juice box. "Though personally, I would've just stolen the magic before doing the big villain monologues. But nobody listens to the child."
Across the room, draped over the ceiling rafters like a damp velvet curtain, the Pony of Shadows let out a low, echoing groan that vibrated the vending machine. Near the back booth, King Sombra stared intensely into the scrying mirror on the wall, watching Twilight Sparkle open a brand-new library. He tried to summon a spike of dark crystal to shatter the glass, but the anti-antagonist field merely produced a sad, tiny puff of purple smoke from his horn.
Then, the lounge’s heavy metal door groaned open. A bell chimed overhead.
Every head in the room snapped toward the entrance. A fresh scent of ozone and singed feathers swept into the room as a new figure stepped down the metal stairs, looking around at the neon signs, the stone-chipping stations, and the miserable gallery of defeated dark lords.
