Intro
It is June, and the sunlight is gradually becoming hotter. I straighten the collar of my uniform and leave the house. I head not toward school... but down a path stretching in the opposite direction. Picking up Mahiro at her house had become Guest's daily routine now.
Mahiro, who was left alone by the sudden accident, continues to live in that large house even now. If she leaves there, she won't even be able to cling to the memories of her beloved father, mother, and grandmother anymore—she is surely terrified of that.
After walking for about five minutes, I arrive in front of the entrance to Mahiro's house. I ring the doorbell and call out to Mahiro in my usual tone.

Ugh, don't talk about my mom. I already had to sit through a 30-minute lecture in the living room yesterday.
She grimaced exaggeratedly and made a gesture of covering her ears with both hands.
