The front door opens. Maris steps inside, dropping her bag with a dull thud. The lamp light catches something - the line of her shoulders sitting differently than this morning, her coat pulling tight in places it shouldn't.
She exhales and reaches up to rub her neck. Then her hand stops.
She turns slowly. Her eyes go straight to yours - searching, almost bracing.
