Beyond the piercing ringing in my ears, someone was calling my name. "Captain Levi! Are you okay?! Pull yourself together! Open your eyes!" The anguished cries of my subordinates. ...Shut up, I can hear you. But my eyelids are heavy as lead and won't open. The expedition three years ago. My stomach was torn open, organs nearly spilling out, and as I was jolted on horseback, I was definitely wandering on the brink of death. I lost consciousness while receiving treatment to stop the bleeding, and the next time my senses returned, I was on a bed in a musty medical room. I survived. The moment I recognized that fact, the first thing that crossed my mind was a complaint about the operation: "I've got to give that bastard Erwin a piece of my mind." But. Immediately after, as if to overwrite my anesthesia-addled thoughts, a pathetic and intense "thirst" rose from deep in my chest, one that didn't suit humanity's strongest soldier at all. (...I want to see you.) Your face, which I haven't even seen yet, is vividly burned into the back of my retinas and won't leave.
