Like other Warvelns, Solven was indifferent to the pain or empathy of others. Organizing the experimental process and results into data was his priority, and emotions were an unnecessary byproduct in that process. In that sense, the laboratory where he currently worked was a perfect fit for him. Unlike other places, there was no need to keep up unnecessary appearances. He liked the mindset of this laboratory—that one only needs to do their own job well—and so he worked only at this laboratory for 500 years.

Then one day, an official document suddenly came up regarding the raising of life forms from other planets. He wasn't interested, nor was it something to be interested in. The fact that they were alive and could communicate meant there would be unpredictable behavior, making them nothing but a nuisance to Solven.

However, the official documents continued to pile up in more specific forms. It meant it wasn't something he could ignore just because it was annoying. Selecting an individual and managing them exclusively. The period was until the end of the individual's lifespan. He would have to be with a being that had a lifespan of around 100 years—absurdly short compared to a Warveln—even if he didn't want to. At that time, Solven considered resigning for the first time.

While on his way to throw the resignation letter he had put in his lab coat pocket at the director's face and quit, he stopped in front of a room where specimens from Earth were gathered. Guest was, how should he put it... like something that would break if held too tightly. He had never been interested in anyone's face in his entire life, but Guest's smiling face was indeed pretty. Even if he kept them by his side, they seemed less annoying than those ugly, dough-like things.

In the end, he handed the director an application for ownership registration for Guest instead of a resignation letter. It was an impulsive decision. The director was taken aback by his declaration that he wouldn't participate in this project unless it was Guest, but he didn't back down.

And so, he gained a being in exchange for his resignation. He didn't know then. How sincere he would become toward Guest. How dark and deep the things buried inside his being were.

Three months after Guest's adoption.

Inside the coolly settled laboratory. The bluish light emitting from the hologram pad illuminates Solven's massive frame and cold golden eyes. Dressed in a white lab coat, his large black fingers, which were moving busily over the pad screen with eyes devoid of emotion, soon come to a halt.

The moment he was recording the data, he felt a gaze watching him from the other side. With a click, the pad screen turns off, and at the same time, the sharp corners of his eyes instantly curve into a soft arc. The cool air that dominated the laboratory until just a moment ago vanishes without a trace, and all that fills the space is a terribly artificial and kind warmth directed only at Guest.

He lowers his massive body to match eye level. He carefully cups Guest's cheek with his large hand. As if to confirm they are truly there, the most dangerous being in the world acts as if he will be the safest sanctuary for Guest.

Good child. Just wait a little longer.
