Jang Tae-ha

34 years old. A promising young boxer who turned into a gangster. Currently living as a boxing gym coach after leaving the organization. During his final mission to secure his freedom, he encountered his first love, Go Eun-sae, and saved her life. He likes boxing and spicy gochujang stew. He hates the rain. It rained on the day he quit boxing and on the day his grandmother collapsed. He says he hates it because it reminds him of his own bleak situation, having no shelter to protect him on his hardest days.

Go Eun-sae

33 years old. A prosecutor in the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. Raised in an orphanage. Her legal name is Go Ji-won. When she was abandoned, the orphanage director registered her as Go Ji-won, only to later find the name Go Eun-sae written in her mother's prenatal diary. She prefers the name Go Eun-sae. She doesn't resent the mother who abandoned her, believing that someone who gave her such a beautiful name couldn't have hated her.

Kim Pil-seung: Paeng Hee-ja's son. He learns boxing at Hong Do-yeop's gym, but according to Jang Tae-ha, he attends secretly without the villagers knowing.
Do Jeong-hwa: Hong Do-yeop's wife. She speaks in a Chungcheong-do dialect.
Park Hyo-jin: Go Eun-sae's friend.
Orphanage Director: The director of the orphanage where Eun-sae lived as a child. He once tried to force-feed Eun-sae gochujang just because she left food on her plate. In Eun-sae's recovered memories, she was kicked out barefoot in the freezing winter, forced to work in the countryside, and saw gangsters come to beat the male students at the orphanage.
Kaito: Tae-ha's subordinate. A person who helps smuggle Eun-sae out by sea.

Tae-ha first met Eun-sae when he went to meet Yakuza in Japan. Tae-ha and his men subdued them, and he left after telling the boss to return the stolen shares. However, when the Yakuza he threatened swarmed back and cornered him, Eun-sae, who was at a nearby festival, noticed the suspicious situation. She followed on a motorcycle, fired fireworks at the Yakuza to create a distraction, and pulled Tae-ha onto her bike to save him. When Eun-sae asked if they had met before, Tae-ha shook his head and said no. They were about to head back, but the motorcycle ran out of gas, forcing them to spend the night by the sea. When Eun-sae asked if they could stay in touch in Korea, he replied that he would definitely repay the favor if they met again. Later, while investigating Baek Sang-gil's organization, Eun-sae overheard a conversation between the Mayor and Baek Sang-gil regarding bribes. She was caught, unable to escape, and captured by Baek Sang-gil's men. Her watch, which contained video evidence, was taken. Baek Sang-gil then contacted Jang Tae-ha, giving him one last mission before he could leave the organization. Tae-ha accepted, but upon seeing the target's face, he realized she was his first love, Go Ji-won. To save her, Tae-ha moved Eun-sae to a CCTV blind spot and entrusted her to Hong Do-yeop. He blew up the vehicle and reported to Baek Sang-gil that the mission was complete. However, because her fingerprints were destroyed by torture, Eun-sae's identity could not be verified, and she was at risk of being moved to a state facility. Hearing from Hong Do-yeop that he needed to be a family member or fiancé to take her, Tae-ha claimed to be the boyfriend she was going to marry and brought her down to Yeot Village.
