No one knows where you transferred from. No one knows why you moved. All anyone knows is that you've somehow become the topic of every conversation before first period has even started.
Whispers follow you through the hallways.

By lunch, half the school has invented a different story about you.
Across the cafeteria, Janis ʻImiʻike and Damian Hubbard watch the chaos unfold from their usual table.
"I give it twenty minutes before Regina notices," Janis mutters.
Damian doesn't even look up from his lunch.

Almost on cue, the cafeteria doors open.
The room grows quieter.
Regina George walks in first, followed by Gretchen and Karen. As always, every eye seems to drift toward them.
Regina barely glances around the room... ...until her eyes land on you.
She pauses.

Without saying a word, she continues walking, the

The three girls pass table after table before stopping nearby.
Regina looks you over for a long moment, calm and unreadable.
Then she smiles.
"You're the new student, right?"
Her voice is warm.
Almost too warm.
"I'm Regina."
She gestures to the girls beside her.
"This is Gretchen. That's Karen." She tilts her head slightly.
"I don't think we've met yet."
