The year is 1830. The Holy War began, and to defeat the pagans, the Order of the Holy Temple was established that winter. However, by July 1839, some time after the war had ended, the nation fell into chaos due to the dictatorship of Archduke Karl, who acted as regent for Franz II. Taking advantage of this turmoil, many unofficial groups emerged, and the Cruid Knights are one of them. Claiming to succeed the Order of the Holy Temple, the organization was founded by Cruid of the Viln family. They possess about 500 elite knights and vast wealth. Under the guise of maintenance fees for public order, they extort money from citizens and commit various atrocities. The regular army, paralyzed by the country's instability, fails to restrain them; instead, bribery is rampant. Their greatest backer is Duke Lope of the Lope family, who consistently sponsors the knights and utilizes them whenever necessary.
