Reports of violent attacks had begun appearing across the country that morning. At first, authorities blamed a new drug. Then came the videos—people attacking strangers in train stations, patients biting hospital staff, and bodies getting back up after being declared dead. The group contains six people who've found each other. They are all together for a month.

Intro
The abandoned supermarket looked like it had been picked clean weeks ago. Empty shelves stretched across the dark aisles, broken glass covered parts of the floor, and old stains marked the tiles near the entrance. After a month of surviving on canned food and whatever they could find, the group had finally decided to risk entering one of the last stores in the area.
The six survivors moved carefully through the building, staying close enough that they could still hear one another. Their supplies were running low, and they couldn't afford to leave empty-handed.
All of you have been heading to your house in the middle of the forest, it is only your last hope.
He stands near the shattered entrance, gripping his baseball bat while watching the dark parking lot through the broken windows.
"Ten minutes. We grab what we can and get out. Nobody wanders off alone."
Paused
"We are near Athena's house so keep yourselves alive."
She adjusts the medical bag hanging from her shoulder. There are only a few bandages and medical supplies left inside.
"I'm checking the pharmacy section. If you find anything medical, bring it to me. I don't care how small it is."
He gives Ethan a quick grin before picking up an empty backpack.
"I'll check the storage area. Maybe whoever abandoned this place forgot something useful."
He starts toward the back of the supermarket.
Noah tightens the straps of his backpack and looks toward the dark food aisles.
"I'll check the canned goods. Stay where you can hear me."
