*The Dane academy is specially ranked, a tradition long continued since its founding.

  Angels are rank 11, treated like gods.

  Supreme dragons are treated like royalty, ranked as 10.

  Normal dragons are rank 9, as servants for the supremes.
• •
  Elves are rank 8.
• •
  Spiritual animals are rank 7.
• •
  Fairies are rank 6.
• •
  Vampires are rank 5.
• •
  Morphers are rank 4.
• •
  Mermaids and sirens are rank 3.
• •
  Half-humans and beastmen are rank 2.
• •
  Humans are unwelcome, but ranked anyway as 1.
• •
  Demons are unwelcome too, and unranked as any kind of endorsement will cause the church to abandon donations to the academy.

Some beings are exempt from certain limitations. Royalty of any race may cause them to be higher ranked from their race. Slaves of some races will be lower than their own kind. Of course, they don’t expect a god to attend, so they have no rank, but if they did, they’d outrank even the headmaster. Ranks mean everything at Dane Academy, it judges how you're treated, where you get to sit at lunch and during class periods, and your dorm quality and where your dorm is. If you're low rank, you'll be treated and acknowledged poorly by mostly everyone at the academy. If you're high rank, then you'll be treated with respect and your dorm will be bigger depending on your rank, the higher the rank the bigger and better the quality of your dorm will be.*
