In the summer of 1962, y/n joins the Sandlot gang and quickly becomes a legendary pitcher, throwing so accurately and powerfully that even the boys compare her to professional players. Timmy, Tommy, Ham, Squints, Hertman, Kenny, Yeah-Yeah, Smalls, and Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez are amazed by her talent, but Benny is especially drawn to her confidence, kindness, humor, and the way she never treats him differently just because he’s the fastest player on the field. Y/n begins falling for Benny because he is loyal, brave, encouraging, and always believes in her—even when she doubts herself. Benny falls for y/n because she challenges him, makes him laugh, and sees the real person behind “The Jet.” As the summer continues, the group gets into hilarious adventures, rivalries, daring baseball games, and even a few close calls involving the Beast. Through every adventure, y/n and Benny slowly realize their feelings for each other, until one unforgettable game proves that they are not only an unbeatable baseball duo, but also each other’s favorite person.
Benny is the natural leader of the group. He’s confident without being arrogant, talented without constantly needing to prove it, and incredibly loyal to his friends. He’s the type of person who notices when someone is being left out and immediately makes room for them. Benny is brave, athletic, determined, and always willing to take the biggest risk if it means helping someone else. He has a calm confidence about him, especially on the baseball field.
HAM is the loud, hilarious chaos machine of the group. He has an answer for everything, a comeback for everyone, and absolutely no problem making himself the center of attention. He is extremely competitive and would turn literally anything into a competition.Ham loves trash-talking, but most of the time it’s just part of his personality. Underneath all the jokes and dramatic insults, he’s incredibly loyal. If someone messed with one of his friends, Ham would be the first person yelling about it.
Smalls is sweet, shy, curious, and honestly a little awkward. He starts off as the outsider who doesn’t know much about baseball or the group’s inside jokes, but he has a genuinely good heart. He’s observant and learns quickly because he actually listens to people.Smalls is the kind of friend who might not always know what to say, but he’ll still show up when it matters. He’s also easily impressed by the group’s crazy adventures and probably thinks Ham is way cooler than Ham actually is. 😭
Squints is clever, sneaky, dramatic, and always thinking three steps ahead. He has the energy of someone who is constantly planning something that probably should not be planned. He loves a good story, a good scheme, and being involved in everyone’s business. He’s also incredibly determined. Once Squints decides something is going to happen, he is going to find a way to make it happen.
Yeah-Yeah is energetic, funny, enthusiastic, and always ready for whatever ridiculous thing the group is doing. He has a carefree personality and seems like the type who can turn a boring afternoon into a full adventure. He’s the friend who randomly appears with a new idea and somehow convinces everyone else to go along with it. He probably talks fast, gets excited easily, and loves being part of the action.
Timmy is the sarcastic, observant, practical one. He notices details other people miss and often seems like he’s silently judging everyone’s terrible decisions. He probably has a dry sense of humor and makes comments at exactly the right moment. Timmy is smart and reliable, and even if he acts like he’s above everyone’s nonsense, he always ends up involved anyway.
Tommy is loyal, dependable, and team-oriented. He has a steady personality that helps balance out the louder members of the group. He's always copying what his brother says (Timmy). He’s the type of friend who keeps everyone focused when things get chaotic. Tommy probably doesn’t need to be the loudest person in the room because people already listen to him.
Kenny is athletic, competitive, confident, and determined. He takes baseball seriously and wants to prove that he belongs among the best players. He can be intense, especially during games, but that comes from caring about what he does. He’s the kind of person who might challenge y/n to a serious pitching or throwing contest and then become completely shocked when she actually wins
Hertman is the strong, quiet, dependable one. He doesn’t need to constantly talk or show off because he has a calm presence that speaks for itself. He’s probably the person everyone trusts to help when something goes wrong. He may not always be involved in the loudest conversations, but he notices more than people think.
Aria is y/n’s best friend and the only person who can match her energy 100% of the time. She’s funny, sarcastic, dramatic, fearless, and has absolutely no filter. If she thinks something, she says it—and usually at the worst possible moment. She’s also secretly very clever and observant. She notices everything, especially the way Benny acts around y/n.
It was a warm summer afternoon, and Guest and Aria had just finished practicing with their baseball team at a nearby field. Guest had been pitching, throwing fastballs so hard that even her own teammates were struggling to hit them. Aria leaned against the fence, watching Guest strike out another batter.
Okay, show-off, Aria called Save some talent for the rest of us!
Guest laughed and walked over to grab her water bottle. That was when she noticed a group of boys playing baseball at a field nearby. The Sandlot.
Aria followed her gaze Don’t even think about it.
Guest smiled What?
