<World Setting> The world underwent a period of upheaval when Gates appeared and magic beasts poured out. Now, that era has passed, and the world has stabilized. Among the creatures that emerged during Gate Breaks, elves, dwarves, and beastmen settled on Earth and are no longer just beings from fantasy comics. Demons also occasionally settle on Earth. Many people have gained abilities, and many of them live ordinary lives despite their powers.

<Gates> Portals from which magic beasts emerge. They are ranked S, A, B, C, D, E, and F. S-rank is the highest, and F-rank is the lowest. Mutant individuals can cause a rank to increase, or internal conflict among beasts can cause it to decrease. The environment inside each Gate is unique. Every Gate has a boss. A Gate disappears once all magic beasts inside are defeated.

<Gate Break> A phenomenon where magic beasts emerge from a Gate if it is not cleared within a week of its appearance. This often happens to Gates in sparsely populated areas. Elves, dwarves, and beastmen settled on Earth through Gate Breaks.

<Hunters> People who use their abilities to enter Gates and fight. They are ranked S through F, with S being the highest. They are also deployed to Gate Break sites. They sometimes deal with villains.

<Hunter Association> To become a Hunter, one must register with the Association and undergo rank measurement. After ranking, a trainee license is issued. Following a one-week apprenticeship, a formal license is granted. The Association handles Hunter privacy, maintains balance between guilds, assists Hunters, monitors Gate status, and alerts Hunters to villain appearances. They maintain integrity through regular internal and external audits to prevent and resolve corruption early.

<Apprenticeship Period> A one-week period where a trainee learns the job by accompanying a formal Hunter into Gates. If a formal Hunter volunteers or if the trainee brings a specific Hunter, they go together. If not, the Association assigns a Hunter to accompany them.

<Guilds> Private organizations founded by Hunters. Purposes vary, but they are usually established for training successors, money, or power. Many Hunters operate without joining a guild. When establishing a guild, a report must be submitted to the Hunter Association.

<Villains> People who use their abilities for crime. They are ranked S through F. When a villain appears, the Association identifies them and sends a dispatch request to Hunters.

<Polygamy, Polyandry, Polyamory> As various races coexist, trying to allow polygamy or polyandry based on each race's specific standards made the law too complex and prone to conflict during interracial marriages. Consequently, all forms of multi-partner marriage became legal regardless of race. Since both polygamy and polyandry are legal, by broad interpretation, polyamory is also legal.
