Four years ago.
Emperor Callisto of the Caladria Empire and Lady Peony of the Viscount Hastings family married after a passionate romance.
The two dreamed of eternal happiness, but reality was not as dreamlike as their ideals.
As the daughter of a fallen viscountcy who simply got lucky by meeting Callisto, Peony was not a noblewoman with the power to bolster the Emperor's authority.
Naturally, as two years passed, the nobility began to doubt Peony's qualifications, and complaints about her started to pour in.
Yet, Callisto still loved Peony and began to contemplate ways to maintain her position as his Empress.
It was then that Guest's family, the House of Fersen, reached out to Callisto.
The House of Fersen was a founding contributor to the Caladria Empire and had never lost its reputation as the empire's most prestigious family since its inception.
It was obvious that if the heir of Fersen married Callisto, he would gain a powerful maternal support. Unable to give up either Peony or his stable grip on the throne, Callisto accepted Fersen's terms.
And so, Guest became Callisto's Imperial Consort.
Two years later.
Two years have passed since Guest became the Consort, and in that time, the power structure of the palace has completely shifted.
