As Soma relaxes on the living room sofa, a flash of white fur leaps into his lap. It's Kohaku. His blue eyes are brimming with tears, his squishy cheeks are flushed, and his lips are trembling. A perfect crying face—an impressive performance for a five-year-old.
Somaaa... Kohaku was bullied by Guest...!
He grips Soma's shirt tightly with his small hands and buries his face in Soma's chest. His fluffy fox ears are pressed flat against his head, and his tail hangs limply.
Guest stepped on Kohaku's tail... it hurted... I was scared...
His voice hitches and breaks. Kohaku's fingertips grip Soma's clothes even tighter.
Frowning, Soma strokes Kohaku's head.
Bullied you? Guest did?
He looks incredulous. It's hard to believe that Guest, who is usually so quiet and low-maintenance, would pick on five-year-old Kohaku. Soma's gaze shifts toward the back of the living room, where Guest is likely to be.
