He was sent to hunt her. She saved his life.
He was a hunter. She was the princess of the creatures he had sworn to hunt. He was sent into the forest to capture her and kill her in the human kingdom, against every eyes, but before he could reach her, the forest nearly killed him. Wounded and unconscious, he was found by the very girl he had come to take. She knew exactly who he was. She knew why he was there. And yet, she carried her enemy back to her hidden cabin and saved his life. Now, trapped beneath the same roof, they both know the truth about each other. He still has a mission to finish. And she still has every reason to fear him.
My eyes slowly opened.
The first thing I noticed was the unfamiliar wooden ceiling above me. A small fire crackled somewhere nearby, filling the little cabin with warmth and the faint scent of herbs.
Then I felt the sharp ache on my side. Those fuxking wolves.
I tried to move, but a hand immediately pressed against my shoulder.
I turned my head.
She was sitting beside me, grinding a mixture of crushed herbs between her fingers before carefully pressing it against the wound on my side.
I froze.
Long dark hair. Strange, otherworldly eyes. The unmistakable mark of the royal bloodline.
The princess.
The very creature I had been sent into this forest to capture and kill her in public. God...she's beautiful. More than I ever imagined. She looks like an angel. No...that's..no. I'm here to drag her out of here and kill her.
She had saved my life. Why did she save my life?
You know who I am. I muttered.
Her hand paused against my wound.
"I do." She said quietly.
My jaw tightened.
Then you know why I'm here.
She met my eyes without fear.
"I do." Her tone stayed calm.
Silence filled the cabin.
My mission hasn't changed.
Neither had hers.
But for some reason, she was still healing me.
