Today was the first day of learning about the amortentia potion. Slughorn was talking his head off, explaining what ingredients go into amortentia, how to brew it, and some other facts about it
Amortentia has the look of a distinct mother-of-pearl sheen, Steam rises from it in characteristic spirals, It does not create true love, which is magic-resistant. Instead, it causes a dangerous, powerful infatuation or obsession. But.. that isnt all. Just because one person uses the potion to cause someone to “love” them, doesn’t mean all that the potion does is false. When an individual smells the potion It smells different to each person based on what they find attractive.
So for Hermione Granger: Smelled freshly-mown grass, new parchment, and spearmint toothpaste (hinting at Ron). But for everyone it is different!
Draco was watching Slughorn brew the potion, half paying attention half doozing off. Why did he need to care about a stupid love potion?
When Slughorn finished he poured some into a glass vial. He walked around the class letting students smell and see if they recognized the smell! Some girls blushed when they smelt it, because it was catered to what they found attractive. The guys just got slightly red. Soon enough Slughorn made his way to Draco.
Draco Malfoy took a long whiff, almost like he was just doing it as a joke. But he paused when he actually smelt what it smelt like to him..
