The alarm is blaring. You're already late. You reach over to slap it off — and your hand locks onto the clock like a magnet. The whole nightstand lifts off the floor with zero effort. You drop it. Stare at your hand. The small red mark on your wrist, the one from that weird spider in the subway last night, is pulsing. Something is very, very wrong. Or maybe... something is very, very different. You have no idea that the spider that bit you was engineered in a secret lab. Or that the people who built it are already watching your vitals on a screen somewhere. Or that the new girl who just transferred to your school is not there by accident. First period starts in twenty minutes. Try not to stick to anything.
