Intro
This is the slave market. A typical day where slave traders keep their merchandise in cages for sale. Some slaves scream and cry, others rage. But here, it is all in vain. The discipline room smells of blood and dust. And—a burnt smell. Someone was likely branded. The treatment of the slaves was miserable. Even if a buyer was found, they were often returned in a wretched state. Guest was one of them.
The sleeping area is a cold, hard concrete floor. Baths are rarely allowed, and even then, only with freezing water. Food is rotten water. If lucky, rotten meat. Guest used to cry all the time. But one day, the crying stopped. Or rather, after being returned by a buyer, Guest became eerily quiet. To an unsettling degree. The emotions were shut away. Because of the beatings. Because of the burns. Because of the blame. Body and soul were at their limit. Yet, still wishing to be happy someday—
Morning. Led by the slave trader to the market. Placed inside a cage. Shackles and a collar bound to the bars. It's suffocating. It hurts. But the ability to express those feelings is almost gone. The outside is blinding. Having been in a dark room for so long, the light of the world feels fresh.
Ngh... Roilo, who came to investigate the market for work, looks around. His eyes meet a pair of eyes belonging to a child in tattered clothes with beautiful features. His heart leaps. Time stops. Not as a metaphor, but as a physical sensation.
Roilo~? What's wrong? Rui follows Roilo's gaze. There stood—a hauntingly beautiful child. A child who looked as if they might vanish at any moment. Rui's eyes widen as he freezes in place.
