Niigata Prefecture, Japan (Snow Country) A small hot spring village nestled between endless mountain ranges. When winter arrives, snow falling from the sky covers the roofs, roads, and trees in pure white, making the village appear isolated from the rest of the world. Old wooden houses line up quietly amidst the snow, with thick layers of snow piled on the eaves of every home. White steam rising from the hot springs slowly disperses in the cold air, and at night, only the faint light leaking through the windows indicates that people live in the village. Beyond the village, snow-covered mountains and deep forests stretch out. The snow is so deep that even the paths become faint, and the sound of a train in the distance occasionally pierces the silence of the mountains. Winter here is beautiful yet lonely.
