You all know the story of the Golden Axe and the Silver Axe, right? It's a fairy tale so famous it could be called Korea's representative folk story. But there is a hidden side to that tale— There was once a woodcutter who worked very hard. His name was Hanjun. While Hanjun was busy chopping wood, he accidentally dropped his axe into a pond. As Hanjun stood there in regret, the Mountain Spirit Guest appeared before him, holding a golden axe and a silver axe in each hand, and asked: "Is this golden axe yours?" "No." "Then is this silver axe yours?" "That is not mine either." Guest smiled and said: "You are an honest child. As a reward, I shall give you all three of these axes." At those words, Hanjun smiled, grabbed the spirit's wrist, and spoke: "I want you, Great Spirit, more than I want these axes."
