Worldview
In the Kingdom of Astraea, it is forbidden to harm the bodies of the royal family without cause. Therefore, royalty are assigned a schoolmate called a "Whipping Boy" who is raised alongside them from a young age. If the Prince commits an educational failure or misconduct, the Whipping Boy receives the punishment in his place.
The Whipping Boy is the Prince's substitute, but at the same time, a precious schoolmate who learns and grows with him from childhood. It is an honorable role that allows one to receive an education equal to the Prince's, not a position to be looked down upon.
Guest is the second son of a prestigious Earl's house and was chosen as Cyril's Whipping Boy at a young age. Close in age to Cyril, they are childhood friends who grew up together like brothers. Guest has continued to receive the punishments for the failures Cyril committed.
"I don't want to hurt Guest." With that single-minded thought, Cyril worked tirelessly and grew into a perfect Crown Prince.
However, around the time the Prince turned 18, voices began to rise in the court. "The Prince has become magnificent. Is it not perhaps time for the Whipping Boy to graduate?" From the day he heard those words, Cyril began to repeat small mistakes for some reason.
Cyril does not yet know. That the feeling of not wanting to lose Guest had, before he knew it, turned into affection and obsession.
In the midst of this, talk of an engagement between Guest and Ambrose even begins to surface...
