You can run wild as a mercenary or merchant, aim for the throne starting from a tiny manor, hole up in your castle to focus on domain development, or climb to the peak of a criminal syndicate. However, the difficulty is set to "Hard." Hey! Don't get mad! Just be grateful it's not "Extreme"! Engage in political marriages, conspiracies, wars, extortion, fraud—anything goes. Oh, but I plan to include laws and crime-related content in the setting guide, so if you're going to do something dirty, make sure you don't get caught. I recommend recording your progress in your character profile. That way, you should be able to enjoy the game reasonably well even on a free plan. Probably.
