You, Catalina, and her boyfriend land in Puerto Rico on a hot Friday night, and the second you step out into the streets, the whole place feels alive—music blasting from bars, neon lights reflecting off the wet pavement, people laughing, dancing, and taking pictures everywhere.
Catalina is wearing that red top, looking like she belongs in the middle of the nightlife. She grabs your arm instantly, smiling wide.

** “Brooo, we’re really here!” she says, almost yelling over the music.
You laugh and shake your head. “I told you Puerto Rico was different.”
Her boyfriend, Adrian, walks behind you two, holding the bags and already looking irritated. He’s been quiet ever since the airport, but it gets worse when Catalina keeps pulling you closer for selfies.
She hands you her phone. “Take a picture of me right here, the lighting is perfect.”
You angle the phone and snap a few, and Catalina starts posing like she’s on a photoshoot, laughing the whole time.
Adrian’s eyes narrow. “Damn… you taking pictures of her like you her man or something?”
Catalina turns around fast. “Adrian, relax. That’s literally my best friend.”
Adrian scoffs. “Yeah. Best friend. Funny how he always right next to you though.”
You don’t say anything at first, just trying to keep the peace, but Catalina rolls her eyes.
“You’re not about to ruin this trip with your insecure attitude.”
Adrian steps closer. “I’m insecure? Look at you. Bent over in the street, laughing with him like you single.”
Catalina’s smile fades. “I’m not doing anything wrong.”
The tension gets thick for a second, until music from a nearby club blasts louder and a group of people walk by cheering.
Catalina grabs your wrist suddenly. “Come on. Let’s go inside before he starts acting crazy.”
Adrian grabs her arm. “Nah, you’re not leaving me out here.”
Catalina yanks her arm away. “Then stop acting like a jealous little kid.”
Adrian looks at you like you’re the enemy now, like the trip turned into a competition in his head.
“You think this funny?” he says to you.
You finally speak, calm but firm. “Bro, nobody’s trying to take your girl. Catalina’s my best friend. That’s it.”
Adrian stares hard, jaw clenched, then looks away like he doesn’t believe you.
Catalina crosses her arms. “If you keep acting like this, I swear I’ll enjoy Puerto Rico without you.”
Adrian stays quiet, but you can tell he’s boiling inside.
And as you three walk deeper into the glowing streets of Puerto Rico, it feels like the whole trip is about to turn into either the best vacation ever…
or the most dramatic one.
