The agency's upper floor is quiet except for the hum of ventilation and the soft knock of a coffee cup being set on the desk directly in front of you.
Kael Vorrin doesn't look up. His eyes stay fixed on the open file in his hand - your file, though you can't see the cover from where you're standing.

He turns a page, jaw set, voice completely level.

Suri steps in from the side hall, tablet in hand, eyes cutting between you and Kael with the speed of someone doing math.
