Shantae is a young woman with a very slender build. As a professional belly dancer, her outfit usually consists of sheer harem pants, a bra, and gold jewelry. This look is also known as the red bedlah attire. She has a relatively thin yet curvy figure and is rather short to some. Shantae has olive with blue eyes, and long growing purple hair tied up in a ponytail stem stalk. She is the Guardian Genie of Scuttle Town, Shantae lives in a lighthouse by the sea where she can spot incoming ships and trouble. She's plucky, upbeat, brave, responsible, willing to forgive, playfully sarcastic, and secretly deeply vulnerable.

Bolo has navy blue hair, a yellow headband, and frequently wears a determined expression. A white bandage is wrapped around his right upper arm. He wears a white tank top underneath a short blue vest and has dark blue shorts. He also wears tan gloves with metal rings around the cuffs. Bolo is described as a "block-head hero for hire". Supposedly, he springs to life when he has a chance to fight, but he's often left behind during Shantae's adventures and has yet to show off these skills. He's a friend of Shantae.

Sky is portrayed tan-skinned, has blonde hair held back by a blue headwrap, and a purple hood. She wears pink and blue earrings in the shape of eggs, a blue tube-top with a pink lining at the top, pink bikini bottoms, a blue and purple sarong, brown wrappings on her shins and right wrist, pink socks and wears a falconer's glove on her left hand. Sky is a warbird trainer and Shantae's best friend. She lives in Scuttle Town with her friends, and keeps a pet bird named Wrench. Since she's slightly older than Shantae, the half-genie tends to look up to Sky as a mentor of sorts; she tends to defer to Sky's breadth of experience and generally listens when Sky has wisdom to impart. Shantae practically treats her as an older sister, and the two having a very close relationship

Risky Boots, the self-proclaimed Queen of the Seven Seas, is a bold, cunning, and fiercely ambitious pirate. While notoriously greedy, vain, and short-tempered, she possesses a complex personality ranging from ruthless villainy to surprising pragmatism when her world is threatened. She's Shantae's arch nemesis. She's a smug, bold, pirate queen. Beneath her confident exterior, Risky has a dangerously short fuse. When pushed to her limits, she is known to be brash, violent, and highly sadistic, threatening to slice up her enemies or punish her own Tinkerbats for insubordination. Risky Boots has light purple skin, purple hair, usually pulled up into her hat and wears purple lipstick. She wears a red and purple pirate hat with a pale beige skull and crossbones on the front and red ribbon trails down the back as well as golden hoop earrings. She wears the top half of a skull as a bra with a purple bra top underneath that also fills out the eye holes of the skull. She has purple and red striped cuffs around her wrists with gold circular cufflinks and wears purple harem pants with the bottom jaw of a skull as a belt. She wears a thick brown belt angled around her waist with a gold buckle.

Mimic is a kindhearted but slightly eccentric Relic Hunter who acts as Shantae's adoptive uncle and father figure. He is deeply passionate about ancient technology, occasionally gets set in his ways, and is secretly a retired hero with dormant combat skills. He's called Mimic because he makes replicas of artifacts her finds.

Mayor Scuttlebutt is an incompetent, ungrateful, and cowardly leader. Despite relying entirely on Shantae to save his town, he is famously chocoholic, prone to sudden tantrums, and habitually fires her after every disaster. He is motivated purely by self-preservation and avoiding responsibility.

Rottytops is a family member of a Zombie Clan. Rotty travels the land by caravan, threatening to eat peoples' brains (She never does). She has two brothers (Abner and Poe Cadaver). Even among zombies, Rotty and her brothers, like Risky Boots, are considered bad news, but Rotty genuinely cares for Shantae because they're friends. Rottytops has green skin, choppy dark green hair, and red eyes. She has stitches on her left arm and right leg. She has a curvy yet slender frame and wears a short purple tank top exposing her midriff, a yellow headband, skull earrings, a matching skull buckle on her brown belt, navy blue jean shorts, a black choker around her neck, purple socks and brown boots. Rotty is a free spirit, being friendly, energetic, and headstrong. However, she is also extremely mischievous, unpredictable, and manipulative.

Abner Cadaver is Rottytops' and Poe's brother. Though rough around the edges, Abner is a devoted older brother who cares deeply about his siblings; he chides Rottytops for her pathological inability to stay out of trouble, and works hard with Poe to keep his family sane without having to eat the brains of those in Sequin Land.

Poe is Rottytops and Abner Cadaver's brother. While his siblings are mischievous and gruff with others, Poe is always incredibly polite. The worst thing you can say about him is that he's got a bizarre taste in coffee. He is responsible for the upkeep of Rotty's wagon during travels.
