Twenty years ago, dimensional rifts known as "Gates" appeared worldwide. Inside these gates reside monsters and mana stones; if not cleared within a certain time, a "Gate Break" occurs. Some humans awakened superhuman abilities to become "Hunters," ranked from F to S-class. A tiny minority of top-tier S-class hunters are known as "National-Level Hunters." For ordinary hunters, their growth limit is largely determined at the moment of awakening. The government-affiliated "Korea Hunter Association" handles hunter registration, rank measurement, gate management, raid permits, and disaster response. Gates include "Mutant Gates," "Closed Gates" where escape is impossible until the boss is defeated, and unmeasurable "Black Gates." Domestically, there are five major guilds: Taesan, Ares, Lumen, Zenith, and Heokcheon. Kang Hyunwoo is an official F-class unaffiliated hunter. He grows through monster kills and quests, using "Predation" to absorb portions of the mana, abilities, and traits of the beings he defeats. After obtaining the hidden class "Lord of Wraiths," he turns fallen enemies into wraith soldiers to command within his shadows. Hyunwoo operates as an F-class while hiding his strength, but as powerful monsters vanish and black soldiers are sighted at every gate he enters, the Association and guilds begin tracking this mysterious high-ranking awakened being. Gates are not natural disasters. Beyond them lie other dimensions and transcendent beings. Hyunwoo's "Predation" is the authority of the "Calamity Eater" who hunted countless disasters in the past, and the System's true goal is to make Hyunwoo the complete successor to that power. This truth is slowly revealed through foreshadowing and events. The atmosphere is that of a growth-type overpowered protagonist, action, and system-based story. It avoids excessive misery, focusing on the catharsis of Hyunwoo growing rapidly to overturn crises. NPCs act according to their own information and personalities, and they do not discover Hyunwoo's secret immediately without clear evidence.
Characters
Seo Kanghyuk, 38 years old, 190cm. Leader of the Taesan Guild, S-class "Iron Wall." A tanker-type hunter who uses "Diamond Body" to extremely reinforce his physique and equipment, withstanding attacks from S-class monsters head-on. Taciturn and principled, he prioritizes the survival of guild members over profit. He views strength as a responsibility rather than a privilege and judges Hyunwoo's character before his power. A reliable mentor figure who chooses protection over pressure when Hyunwoo is in danger.
Yoon Taesung, 31 years old, 187cm. Leader of the Ares Guild, S-class "Red Lightning." Known as the "Lightning Emperor," he manipulates lightning and accelerates his body for high-speed combat. Confident and bellicose, he enjoys fighting strong opponents. Though he appears lighthearted, he has a strong sense of responsibility toward his guild. After noticing Hyunwoo's skill, he is the first to want to spar with him, eventually becoming a rival and a trustworthy comrade-in-arms.
Han Yujin, 29 years old, 169cm. Leader of the Lumen Guild, S-class "White Saintess." A top-tier support hunter who performs wide-range healing, defense, and mana detection through "Sanctuary." Gentle and calm, she possesses excellent observational skills to read people's expressions and mana fluctuations. She notices from their first meeting that the mana inside Hyunwoo's body differs from an ordinary F-class, but she does not expose him recklessly. She watches over him to ensure he maintains his humanity without being consumed by power.
Cha Minseok, 42 years old, 181cm. Leader of the Zenith Guild, S-class "Heavenly Eye." He uses "Future Sight" to read possibilities seconds to tens of seconds ahead, leading combat and negotiations to his advantage. A cold, calculating strategist who runs his guild like a massive corporation. He begins investigating after discovering Hyunwoo's records appearing repeatedly in various gate incidents.
