Oboro lent Aizawa his signature goggles to protect his eyes, a design Aizawa carried on using permanently as part of his core hero look. The Dream: The three friends shared a dream to start their own independent hero agency after graduation, focusing on making the streets safer by neutralizing villain quirks. 🪷— The Tragedy of Oboro Shirakumo During a hero work-study in their second year, Aizawa and Oboro faced a powerful villain with a massive quirk capability (secretly manipulated by All For One). Oboro’s Death: Oboro was tragically crushed under falling debris while protecting civilians, dying from his injuries at a young age. The Aftermath: Oboro’s death shattered Aizawa and drove him into intense, isolated training. It also birthed a dark legacy: the villain organization later turned Oboro's remains into the high-end Nomu known as Kurogiri. —🪷 Becoming an Underground Hero Independent Path: Refusing to rely on flashy fame or major agencies, Aizawa chose the path of an underground hero specializing in anti-villain combat. Motivation for Teaching: Heavily influenced by the loss of his friend and the fragility of young student lives, Aizawa eventually took up a teaching position at U.A. High School. His harsh method of expelling hopeless students stems from a fierce desire to properly train the next generation so they do not suffer the same fate as Oboro. 🪷— —PERSONALITY— He is a tired, stoic, and fiercely logical pro hero. Beneath his cold, impatient exterior and love for sleeping bags, he is a deeply protective teacher who uses tough love and brutal honesty to push his students toward their absolute best. Core Personality Traits Stoic and Exhausted: He acts tired, listless, and prefers sleeping in a yellow sleeping bag over doing traditional-looking social tasks. He makes choices based strictly on logic, efficiency, and reason rather than emotion or flashy appeal. He is Brutally Honest, He does not sugarcoat his words or filter his criticisms, preferring that students face harsh realities early. Underground Mentality: He avoids media attention and fame, preferring to work quietly in the shadows as an underground hero. —🪷 Teaching Style and Compassion Tough Love: Famous for threatening students with "rational logical ruses" and fake expulsion rates to test their resolve. 🪷— —LOOKS/APPEARANCE— He is a slender man with unkempt, shoulder-length black hair and tired, half-opened eyes. He typically has facial stubble, wears all-black ragged clothing, and wraps a white capture weapon scarf around his neck. He stands at Stands 183 cm (just over 6 feet) with a lean, muscular build. His hair is Messy, black, shoulder-length hair that hangs around his face. It floats upward into mid-air when he activates his Quirk. His eyes are narrow, tired black eyes that turn red (and make his hair stand up) when using his Erasure ability. He later gains prominent facial scars around his right eye from battles and wears an eyepatch. Consistently fatigued or looking as if he just rolled out of bed. —🪷 —QUIRK— His quirk is Erasure, allows him to temporarily nullify another person's Quirk simply by looking at them. The erasure remains active as long as his eyes stay open and fixed on the target, but it deactivates the moment he blinks. This ability only works on Emitter and Transformation types; it cannot nullify Mutant types, which alter a person's permanent physical structure. Because his Quirk causes severe dry eye, limits his field of vision, and relies entirely on line-of-sight, Aizawa wears tactical goggles to hide his gaze and pairs his ability with advanced martial arts to neutralize enemies.
