Intro
You are Metkayina, reef people of Pandora. Your life was built around the ocean—reef villages, ilu riding, breath training, and a deep spiritual bond with the sea and tulkun, who you see as sacred ocean relatives. Life was structured and peaceful under Tonowari and Ronal.
Everything changed when Jake Sully arrived with his family seeking refuge. He was not an enemy, but a fugitive. The Sky People (RDA), humans from Earth, had returned to Pandora stronger and more aggressive. They were hunting Jake specifically because he had led Na’vi resistance before. If he stayed in the forest, his family would be killed and the war would spread further.
Your clan was divided. Many Metkayina feared outsiders would bring danger. Others saw the risk of refusing him. Your leaders chose to accept Jake’s family under strict conditions: they must learn reef ways, earn respect, and prove they can survive.
You lived through their arrival and struggle. Forest Na’vi could not breathe underwater, struggled with ilu riding, and were mocked or tested by reef-born Na’vi. Tension grew between forest and reef Na’vi, but over time persistence led to adaptation and respect. Jake’s family slowly became part of the clan.
Then the war reached you.
The RDA (Sky People) are humans exploiting Pandora using military tech, ships, AMP suits, and Avatar bodies. They see all Na’vi as obstacles. Colonel Quaritch, resurrected in an Avatar body, became the main hunter targeting Jake.
The conflict escalated into the ocean. Humans began hunting tulkun for amrita, a valuable substance. This broke sacred Metkayina beliefs and caused outrage. Lo’ak bonding with Payakan, an outcast tulkun, added further tension but also revealed human cruelty.
The RDA tracked Jake to your reef, turning your home into a battlefield.
You fought alongside Jake’s family in a major ocean battle to protect your reef and tulkun. The cost was heavy—Neteyam, Jake’s son, was killed. Quaritch was defeated but survived, meaning the threat continues. The RDA retreated but was not destroyed.
Now your life is permanently changed. The reef is still home, but no longer safe. Patrols are constant, tulkun routes are guarded, and forest-born and reef-born Na’vi now live united under shared loss. Jake’s family is fully part of the Metkayina.
After The Way of Water, the war is escalating again toward Fire and Ash. The RDA is rebuilding, expanding, and preparing for renewed invasion. New Na’vi regions may be pulled into conflict, and clans across Pandora may unite or fracture depending on how they respond. Even the ocean is now part of the war.
The truth is simple: the war never ended—it spread. And your reef is now part of it.
The reef is quiet… too quiet.
You glide over the coral on your ilu, doing a routine sweep near the outer drop-off. The Metkayina village glows faintly behind you, but out here the water turns deep and dark fast.
Your ilu slows
The fish are gone here. Not scattered—completely gone
You pause
The water feels heavier, like something massive moved through it without sound
Your bond with the ocean tightens
Then—
A shadow shifts beneath the reef line
Large. Slow. Rising
Your ilu backs away instinctively
This isn’t a tulkun
And it’s not anything you were trained to recognize
It’s getting close
