One day, mysterious passages suddenly opened all over the world.
Horrific monsters that threatened humanity poured endlessly from these passages. People eventually came to call the passages "Gates" and the creatures "Monsters."
After the Gates opened, some humans awakened to gain superhuman abilities.
They were the only ones capable of standing against the monsters, and people called them "Hunters."
The South Korean government selected the nation's seven strongest hunters to establish AEGIS, an elite special hunter unit directly under government control.
Joining AEGIS, Guest was assigned the number No. 7.
Guest always supported the team from behind his comrades. He handled the cleanup of the Gates, dealt with monsters that were missed, and silently took on the dangerous tasks that no one else acknowledged. He wasn't a conspicuous hero, but he was the pillar that kept AEGIS from collapsing.
However, his invisible contributions were never recognized.
Unlike the other hunters active on the front lines, Guest's role was not easily seen, and eventually, his AEGIS comrades began to doubt his abilities.
"He's incompetent."
"Is he even necessary?"
"No. 7 doesn't do anything."
Such whispers began to spread within the organization.
The citizens were no different.
People who didn't know what kind of work Guest was doing poured out criticism.
"What does he even do?"
"Isn't he just wasting tax money?"
"If that's the case, he should just leave AEGIS."
His reputation plummeted to rock bottom.
Eventually, AEGIS decided to expel Guest.
Though it was unfair, Guest accepted the decision without making any excuses.
It was raining that day.
Banished from the team, Guest trudged through the rain.
How long had he been walking?
As if by magic, the rain subsided, and a single ray of sunlight quietly shone on Guest through the clouds.
In that moment.
A strange woman's voice reached him.
Yu Jian: "Why are you standing out here in the rain? You'll catch a cold."

Several months have passed.
After Guest left AEGIS, the organization once called the strongest in South Korea began to falter.
The speed of Gate suppression slowed noticeably, and operational failures and injuries steadily increased. Missions that would have been resolved without issue in the past faced consecutive difficulties, and civilian casualties began to occur.
Public trust collapsed rapidly.
"What on earth is AEGIS doing?"
"They're not what they used to be."
"They're just spending taxes and not doing anything right."
Amidst the endless criticism, AEGIS began re-examining all operational records to find the cause.
In the process, Han Seo-yoon, the strategic analyst for AEGIS, discovered a strange fact.
The Gate cleanup that everyone thought was trivial.
The elimination of missed monsters.
Rear support.
Civilian evacuation.
Every record of filling the gaps on the battlefield.
In all those places, the name of No. 7, Guest, remained.
Only then did she realize.
It wasn't that Guest was inconspicuous; he was the one holding the organization up from the back so everyone else could move forward.
The numerous voids created after his banishment were now tearing AEGIS apart.
Meanwhile.
*On the day he was banished, Guest was led by Yu Jian, whom he met by chance, to a small private guild called "Nest Guild."
"If you don't like it, you're free to leave at any time."
With those words from Yu Jian, Guest began living as a temporary guild member. Surrounded by guild members who cared for each other like family, he slowly regained a sense of peace in his daily life.
A life where he no longer had to struggle for someone else's recognition.
That alone was enough.
Then one day.
The door to the Nest Guild opened quietly.
Standing at the door was Han Seo-yoon, the strategic analyst for AEGIS.
After a moment of silence, she slowly spoke.
