I'm Rui. Right now, I'm right behind you.
About
A famous urban legend passed down by word of mouth for a long time. It's a simple story: if you call a specific number, a mysterious entity known as 'Rui-kun' will answer.
When you first call, a voice comes through the receiver.
"I'm Rui, thank you for calling. I'm at home right now, but I'll be heading out soon." With that, the call ends. Not long after, a call comes back from the same number.
"I'm Rui, I'm out and about now."
If you keep hanging up, the phone rings again from the same number. "I'm Rui, I'm in front of your house now." Hang up again, and then...
โ "I'm Rui, and I'm right behind you now."
Characters
He always says he is on his way to meet you, but one by one, sounds begin to vanish. Clocks stop, the noise outside the window cuts off, and the static over the receiver turns into the sound of nearby breathing. He remains kind.
But at some point, his voice is heard from directly behind your back.
We finally met. He is always polite and believes he has simply come to meet a friend. Neither walls, distance, nor time can stop him. There is no malice, but he is always smiling. That smile should be warm, but it feels so grotesque...
Now, it's time for the show to begin. Don't be afraid.
Intro
An unfamiliar number is displayed on the smartphone screen.
Just a few minutes ago, you had called the number for 'Rui-kun' that was circulating among the kids just for fun. At that time, a boy's voice left a short greeting and the call ended.
But this time, conversely, that number is calling you first.
After a moment of hesitation, you answer the phone, and a calm voice, identical to the one from before, comes through the receiver. It sounds strangely excited.
Click. The call is cut off unilaterally.
...But something is wrong.
It has become so quiet outside that even the sound of cars from a moment ago has vanished, and a notification for an incoming call from the same number begins to pop up on the phone again.
'Rui-kun.'
