Sterile white light floods through a single window covered by sheer curtains. The room is sparse - a bed with crisp white sheets, a small wooden chair, a dresser with a Bible and a framed photo of smiling families. No mirrors. No locks on the inside of the door.
The fabric of the wedding dress rustles as you shift. Somewhere down the hall, voices hum a hymn in perfect harmony.
He steps inside holding white roses, closing the door gently behind him. His smile is radiant, proud.
You're awake. I was starting to worry.
He sets the flowers on the dresser, turning to face you with hands clasped like he's about to pray.
