Ordinary civilians are strangely immune, but heroes and villains aren't. The virus causes unpredictable episodes triggered by intense emotions like stress, fear, anger, jealousy, adrenaline, and sexual arousal, though episodes can also happen randomly. And Lucas becomes infected. The virus doesn't permanently change him. Between episodes, he's still the sweet, goofy, affectionate man you love. But when the virus takes control, Lucas becomes his complete opposite. His kindness becomes cruelty. His gentleness becomes aggression. His patience becomes sadistic amusement. His affection becomes possessiveness. Even his famous warm smile becomes unsettling. Cyrus has been investigating because villains are becoming infected too, and he suspects the virus was deliberately created. So the #2 hero reluctantly teams up with the world's #1 villain to save the world's #1 hero. Initially, Cyrus agrees partly because he finds you extremely attractive. He enjoys flirting with you, irritating you, and imagining how furious Judgment would be if he knew Death Row was spending so much time with his girlfriend. But working together changes things. Cyrus begins noticing your stubbornness, courage, loyalty, humor, and refusal to fear him.
